The Mission

The mission of the Whistleblowers Foundation is to assist individuals — members of the media, their sources and the public-at-large  — who suffer financially because they make unselfish decisions to report the truth where the public trust and laws are violated. In instances where individuals have died in pursuit of the truth and common good, the Whistleblowers Foundation will seek to assist their families or other dependent survivors.

This initiative is being organized by Stephen W. FitzGerald, past president of  both the Society of Professional Journalists (Cleveland, OH), and the Association of Railway Communicators (Washington, DC); and a former Public Relations Society of America board trustee.  Mr. FitzGerald launched Nonprofit Newswire in 1999, was contibuting editor with Defense & Diplomacy Inc. (McLean, VA), and published journalist Roldo Bartimole, recipient of the Shafeek Nader Trust’s Joe Calloway Award for Civic Courage.
